Whats with the double underlined green words??!?!?!

Have you noticed that today?

Illish remains here. I got over the intestinal drama and lived for days to get slamed by a head cold today. So goes life.

Anyway, as I'm low on energy I did some internet surfing this afternoon....and I've seen these double green lines popping up all over the place advertising stuff.

Anyone have any clue where they came from and how we get rid of the invasive things???

Illish

Whatever the little girls had early this week has now visited Momma. So goes the grand plans to whip this place in shape. As I am not in danger of the h e a l t h department closing us down so I've chosen instead to focus on doing laundry in the order of most importance. Meaning, socks and undies first!

Nothing wrong with coaching the little girls through a morning of W i i Fit and finally convincing them to just watch some TV.

We'll all survive

Kites

Kites
"I see children as kites.

You spend a lifetime trying to get them off the ground.
You run with them until you're both breathless...they crash...they hit the rooftop...you patch and comfort, adjust and teach.
You watch them lifted by the wind and assure them that someday they'll fly. Finally they are airborne, they need more string and you keep letting it out.
But with each twist of the ball of twine, there is a sadness that goes with the joy. The kite becomes more distant, and you know it won't be long before that beautiful creature will snap the lifeline that binds you together and will soar as it is meant to soar, free and alone.
Only then do you know that your job is done."

Erma Bombeck

I love this. I read it first long before I had kids and thought it neat. Now that I'm living it I am reminded of its truth so often. Such a bittersweetness this parenting thing!

Ticked

Yesterday was a loooooong end to a very long week. And as sleep is still completely elusvie today, blogging about it seems the best option.

Yesterday I went to my SIL Dad's funeral. A funeral culminating any week isn't a very good thing. Ending the day of the funeral in the irritating way I did just ticked me off and is still ticking me off.

The laws of multiple busy weeks prevented me from getting the complete story of my SIL's father death until yesterday. (the live 3 hours away) and was very sad to discover that his death was probably preventable, he choked while eating unattended, because of jaw issues, he shouldn't have been eating alone. He however knew this and did it anyway. It is/was just sad.

It was a long long day starting with the handing out and organizing of my 4 babes (mom taking off a day midweek is never a simple thing) and ended with me leaving my other SIL's house with my two youngest at 12:30am. I was only 45 minutes from home. I was driving extra cautiously do to the lateness of the hour (darn close to bars closing), and the light fog in the area. The fog caused me to put my brights on. The brights being on caused me to be pulled over my small town police guy the moment all 4 of my tires crossed over the small town line. My 12 year old small town police guy seemed to take great joy in this and actually said, "well, this only woke one of your kids" (I bit my tongue...I am proud of myself for that as I am not a tongue biter) This guy was obviously looking for something which was bugging me. I'm mad at myself and the system because he found something. My tabs apparently expired last November. Or at least thats what my stickers say. I can not for the life of me remember if I paid for them or not. The bill comes in the mail from DMV and I pay them faithfully. So....if it came, I paid it. If it didn't I didn't pay it. You would think there would be a little bit of grace here for a person who has had a PERFECT driving record for more then 15 years and has always paid registration. But no. $110 fine and "I could tow your car right now but I won't" (just hold on buddy while I kiss your boots)

I KNOW I am deliquent here. FIRST TIME EVER though!!! EVER! And shouldn't a persons record count for something???? Seriously, this is what "the system" has come to? Stopping middle aged woman in the middle of the night and dancing with glee to be able to slap them with this fine (cause this 12 year old had a happy smirk on his face I was dying so just smack off).

So, I will investigate this further Monday and figure out why I missed out on their lovely bill. Or if I didn't...why I didn't get my tabs. Husband wants me to just pay the fine and move on. I think the fine is to steep for such a minor thing.

BUT the night continues.

I finally got to sleep about 2:15....
2:30...somehow pulled on my icision causing serious pain waking me up.
2:45 back to sleep.
4:00....S is sick in the night, half hour later up again, things are well with her back to sleep at 5.
6:15 renter downstairs wakes me with her cackle (trying not to think murderous thoughts)
6:50 up with the alarm, husband gets up to get J ready for his wrestling tournament (bless him)
8:30 another day begins with 2 exhausted daughters and one well rested happy one

So, we do the morning thing...we do basketball and FINALLY its naptime. The phone keeps ringing, husband, kids' friends, the dang renter (AGAIN), ring ring ring...no nap for Mom and now naptime is over. I had to leave the phone on for J so he could check in.

The little girls are rested and S is feeling better now. I am not. Its just been one of those days all week and I started Friday tired to begin with. That dang elusive sleep. Now I'm so tired I just want to cry.

I wish I had some energy left, cause if I had some I'd go sit outside small town city limits with my brights on all night.

Safety Talks or Not

Yesterday we were vacuming in the little girls room and S wanted to help. I told her she could telling her not to ever touch the bars on the bottom as they would hurt her fingers very badly.

Today she decided to test the theory on her little sister who was just starting to get over her fear of vacume's.

She loves her little sister, it wasn't done out of maliciousness. She was testing the theory on something I told her about.

Safety talks are a major parenting risk aren't they?
