Monday

I think our nice weather days are numbered here! The sky is gray, the wind in howling and there have been some spits of white stuff. Ew. Winter is on its way I'm afraid!!

Busy cleaning and laundry doing today. Yup, its Monday. Is there some comaraderie in this? How many non salaried Moms do laundry on Mondays?

Ah Mondays.

off to a rough start!

So much for everyday!! LOL. I actually got outta dodge here for 2 days...so if it blows the challenge so be it. This Mom had a great time chatting with grownups, shopping for her ONLY, getting a pedicure and eating hot food. AND I slept all night. I'm a competitive person by nature but forgoing the challenge for that was all worth it.

Transitioning. OK...I do get "time off" you might say. An overnight away with no kids or hubby once or twice a year. Coming home again always seems to be a bit rough. I think I was braced for it this time and things went a bit more smoothly....but do you know what I mean by this? I really think a break from the everything is good for the Momma's soul. I'd be open to any tips someone might have as to how to gracefully entered back into the routine you left.

National blog posting month

Did you know its national blog posting month?

I didn't until today....but it is. The idea is that you post in your blog daily for a month.

Its also national poetry month....don't expect any from me though...not my area!!

And national adoption awareness month too. You might get somthing related in that way. :)

Are you now waiting with baited breath to see what I come up with???

Fantastic

Do you ever get stuck on a word? Then you find yourself using it over and over again. It just pops out of your mouth before you even have a completely conscious thought of the word. My word lately has been "fantastic. I use it all the time. Sometimes it bugs me and sometimes I think, well, whatever it is just IS fantastic.

The word seems to pacify my chatty 3 year old on a regular basis. For that alone I can love the word. In that very instant it is indeed fantastic.

First Steps!

the youngest child of the family is viewed as the party animal, the entertainer who is unafraid to test his or her luck. They are also thought of as the baby of the family and an outgoing charmer. While this is certainly not true of all youngest siblings, proponents of this theory state that the youngest of the family is an endearing, and delightful friend.

Baby took her first steps today!! 2 in a row while the rest of us were in attendance, naturally! She is 10 months and 3 weeks old. She is a long ways from a full time walker...but the beginning is there to be sure.

What a busy month. My blog is dusty once again. In October we have 3 family birthdays and they pretty much occupies my bloging time for the month. I have a few thoughts in my head more then once while cleaning something, but I never actually got to the puter to put then down.

Birthdays are a big deal to me. Big. For me, my childrens' birthdays are not just special because they are the day they were born. Because that alone is a big deal and worth celebrating to be sure. But it is the day that I was chosen. Chosen by their other Mothers to be Mom. To me this day is like the day biological Mothers find out they are pregnant, announce that they are pregnant and then actually become mothers all in one moment. Its a big deal.

It is also a day of loss for their Other Mothers. I always have that in the back of my mind. I know somewhere out there they are thinking about these sweet children. How could they not? I feel compelled to honor those thoughts. To celebrate them.

And so October is just busy for me. Two of my kiddos have birthdays, and for fun, my hubby has his too. All in a 5 day spread. We made it through all that celebrating again. And this year, I think I actually had fun. I'm getting better at this!

Keys, doorbells and Tornados

Yup the pretty much sums up yesterday. It just seemed to continue on at a nightmarish pace.

The day started rather sleeplessly with the final revelation of G having a head cold. I needed to get to Target then to buy a bday present for a party H was invited to and get some decogestant for G so we could all sleep again.

Accept my keys were not in there usual spot. An hour later I found them under the coffeed table in S's play purse. Gee, can't imagine why I didn't look there in the first place.

Finally we were home the girls were down for naps and perhaps I would have 2 min to catch up.....when I delivery person who couldn't read the DO NOT RING THE DOORBELL sign rang it. Ending naptime. We no longer HAVE a doorbell. Who knew they were so easy to take apart.

It started raining HARD right when school was letting out. So I loaded up the younger 2 to go get the older 2. To find out while we were sitting in the parking lot that our area was in a tornado warning area???!!!!!! The kids were being held at school. What the???? So I drove the 3 blocks home again. I still haven't gotten an answer to why there were no sirens. It had been raining off and on (hard) for 2 days.....I didn't think to listen to the radio. We are CD or IPod reliant here! And the rain at noon had been worse with pea size hail.

Regardless, there were no touch downs. They finally released the kids at 5pm. Angry kids who were hungry and bored. Who did NOT want to do homework. Who wanted snacks and were mad when I said dinner was in 30 min hang on. Part of me was glad they were willing to do this to keep the kids safe. the other part of me is, if it was only a tornado warning because of a doppler indicator thingy....then why couldn't they shoot out into my van? My little kids were all ready out in it with me.

Also, what is it with peoples driving skills when its bad weather. This woman drops someone off in front of the school and then pulls out in front of me. HELLO!!! Good thing my breaks work.

Finally get to bed about midnight.....so the girls can tag team me all night starting at 1:30. And night was over at 6:22.

Some days you just gotta wonder.

In other news. Dad's surgery is scheduled for Nov 7. The specialist still can not find out what is wrong with my Mom. (frustration levels hit another mark) And my study is ready for furniture!!!! :D :D :D The carpet cleaners came today. They were able to get the BIG paint oops out (my fault) Enzemed the whole works (dog has had moving issues we think) and then scotchguarded it. Sunday we make the big trip to IKEA and next week I get to get busy!! I can NOT wait to get this room put together.

Just another day in paradise!

Have you ever heard that country song? Sounds like life around here. Although my milks not sour. We don't have any bread. and there is water on the floor downstairs from the sump pump working over time to take the place of the broken washing machine. Anyhoo.

School has started, and so has the homework. I get sooooooo frustrated with my third grader who is fully cabable of doing the assignments....if he would just stop whining long enough to put two thoughts together and be done. Otherwise we are off to a good start.

My nearly 3 year old has nearly mastered potty training. We've had 2 days in a row hitting the big one and I'm just praying it continues! Potty training is the only thing worse the surly third grade homework doers.

My Dad continues to be optimistic over the whole cancer thing. Just a blip on his radar. He is waiting for a specialist referral for surgery. So we wait to see whats next.

My DD #1 birthmom letter came back to us. :( She must have moved and it wasn't forwardable. That frustrates me a great deal. If I can't find her. It closes a door for my DD. I don't know what she will want for her future relationships....but I very much wanted her to have a choice in the matter. Its about the only thing she really gets to have a say in in her life. If she wants a relationship with her bio family or not. We've already lost the paternal side. Sigh. I will keep hunting and hoping.

Choir starts tonight. My weekly break from this paradisal type living. After which hubby said he would help do some painting on my study to be project. :)

And there you go. Its just another day......
